The project is co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund.

This investment concerns the construction of a photovoltaic power plant for the needs of its own recycling plant. Current annual electricity consumption of the production plant is 5,244,630 kWh and is taken entirely from the HEP distribution network. The expected annual energy production of the solar power plant in question is 1.864.337 kWh, and as it will be used for its own purposes, the delivered energy from the distribution network will be reduced, which will mean a saving of 35.55% compared to the current situation.

For such a large production, a large area of photovoltaic modules, totaling approximately 8,750m2, is required. At the same time, large quantities of old car tires are recycled in the drive circuit, which also requires a large handling area, especially related to the external storage of old tires (which are the main input raw material). The power plant was erected over an external storage of old tires on a 12-meter-high canopy. Thus, a storage of old tires with all the necessary manipulative functionalities will remain under the canopy, and a useful surface has been obtained on the canopy to which photovoltaic modules have been installed.

The main objective of the project is to increase the level of use of renewable energy sources by building a photovoltaic power plant on the outer canopy. The implementation of the project will contribute to: a) reducing the consumption (saving) of the delivered energy by 35.55%; b) increasing energy from renewable sources in the production process; c) reducing CO2 emissions by more than 430 tones in year.

The project directly contributes to reducing the environmental impact and contributes positively to sustainable development. The intervention on the construction of the photovoltaic power plant in question does not have a harmful effect on the environment or is in the area of the ecological network, as evidenced by the competent body - Administrative Department for Physical Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection of Varaždin County. The company is also environmentally conscious and promotes the importance of environmental protection and sustainable development through its media coverage. When purchasing the necessary components, green public procurement and compliance with pre-existing standards within the company were taken into account: ISO 14001 and ISO 9001.
